Physical activity has always held an important place in my life. I was the child who was happiest when moving. My passion for sport (both recreational and competitive) and physical fitness was evident from a very early age and I had the opportunity to try many aspects of fitness along the years, including Pilates.

A career change from the pharmaceutical industry to the fitness industry happened in my late 20s when I decided to pursue my passion for health and fitness. I qualified as an Advanced Exercise Specialist which included my qualification as a Mat based Pilates Teacher. I had always treated Pilates as a relaxation class but it was not until my training teacher, a lovely older lady who was truly inspiring that I realized there was a lot more to Pilates than was taught at my local gym.

Having always found the thrill in high impact and energetic exercise which often led to injuries and muscle tightness, Pilates allowed me the opportunity to slow things down, to focus on precise movements with flow and control, to learn to breathe effectively and hence improve my strength, flexibility and posture and subsequently limit injuries.  I appreciated the importance of the core “the power house” beyond Pilates; in all forms of sport and exercise but most importantly for health and everyday life.

Having had 3 babies within 4 years, Pilates played a major part in returning my body to its full strength (and beyond). Now at 45, I am the strongest and injury free through my practice and belief in Pilates.

Pilates is complete coordination of the body, mind, and spirit and I want everyone to find that mind – body connection within themselves to allow them to live a happier and more confident life. Pilates builds strength, flexibility, improves posture and energises. Change happens through movement and movement heals. I want everyone to realise that Pilates is for Life and in Joseph Pilates words “You will feel better in ten sessions, look better in twenty sessions, and have a completely new body in thirty sessions.’

Favourite things: my three children, being physically active, being in the great outdoors, spending time with loved ones, the sun, holidays and good food!

Favourite exercises: Leg Pull Prone (Plank), Push Up and Teaser (I couldn’t choose just one!)
